What is a "Carbon Footprint Verification"?

The full name is Carbon Footprint Verification (CFV). Before a government or enterprise wants to "carbon neutrality", it must firstly be clear about its CO2 emissions—that is, carbon footprint—directly or indirectly generated in social or production activities. This is to obtain quantitative carbon footprint data through surveys. The process is carbon inventory. Its results are the basis for formulating neutralization countermeasures, of course, it is also the basis for domestic and foreign governments to levy carbon taxes and fees on you, and it is also the basis for enterprises to conduct "carbon trading".

In this era of "carbon neutrality", it is no longer enough for business owners to only know the production costs of their own products. They also need to know the carbon emissions of their own products through carbon inventory.

The inventory process will first delineate the scope in time and space, first determine the boundary, set the base year, then determine the emission source within this space-time scope, calculate the emission amount, and finally summarize and submit it to a third party for verification.

There are many international inventory standards, including ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol, each with its own specific terms and concepts. Due to the involvement of many professional technologies, services are mainly provided by professional consulting companies to ensure the accuracy, completeness and transparency of carbon footprint calculations.
